I moved into a brand new building 9/1/21 and was told basic cable and internet were free. When i called spectrum there was a long wait on hold and i was told they had to transfer me to some other department (bulk billing maybe?). the woman that took my call said she would take care of it and we hung up. first bill comes in and theres charges, so i thought i misheard the property manager and maybe she meant free tv and wifi in the community rooms in the building and since i could afford it i paid the bill. dumbass me. eventually shit hit the fan in my life and i couldnt afford them anymore but desperately needed wifi to apply for jobs that would allow me such a life. i got behind and spectrum started calling me 3-5x a day to demand payment and threaten shutoff. i reported them to the bbb and fcc as the law states you can only call a person 7x a week total and not on weekends or within certain hours. spectrum violated all three of those laws but of course no one cares. my life got so bad i decided to fight back-i kept my ipod cued up to slayer with a speaker attached and when their calls came in, i would pick up and hang up, then redial and as soon as a clerk picked up id press play! i think i also used overkills fuck you as well. they shutoff my cable and i dropped off my box and remote (being sure to keep the receipt because i know someone who didnt and is currently being sued by these douchebags). i dug through my box of unused tech devices and found an old programmable remote and used that to watch tv in the community room down the hall from me. one of my neighbors asked me what i was doing and when i told him he said what the property manager said. so i filed another complaint with the bbb and some weasel emailed me about it and after some terse emails he finally consented to a $120 credit (about a month or so) but had no obligation to refund me the other 2 years worth of charges and i would have to contact an attorney because they are like all other douche bag businesses and governments and rip us all off up to the point the scumbag lawyers get involved. i felt i had no other choice so i took the credit, got my service back and now i actually get decent speeds (250meg download-tho not the 3-500 they claim of course). i am only charged $7 a month for a sports package so i can check out college channels and was able to watch the IIHF games.
I didnt pay my bill because i have been receiving the ACP credit of $30 a month since quarantine and, for the mathematically inept, $30 is greater than $7. My bill kept going up so i checked and i found the acp credit is no longer being applied. i know it is going away and thought it already had but someone told me they reapplied and are still receiving it so i checked into it and they said i was still eligible. i clicked on the link and filed a complaint against spectrum for absconding with my credit. Lo and behold two days later i get an email from spectrum that reads:
